Mission
To provide finance mechanisms and a shared forum for local governments to advance energy sovereignty, economic stability, job creation and resilient infrastructure systems.

Who we are

Local governments have tremendous potential to influence how and what kinds of energy are consumed throughout the country. Through their purchasing power, even small communities can have a substantial impact on local energy markets. Those willing to take a more proactive stance can use legislative and regulatory tools to increase local choice over energy sources and provide access to alternatives like efficiency options and renewable energy. Combined, individual local government energy actions have the opportunity to lead a massive shift in America’s overall energy profile.

Founded by local elected officials in 2008, Applied Solutions was created to help local governments design and implement projects to diversify their energy supplies in ways that save money, increase efficiency, and spur investment in the local economy. Applied Solutions provides expertise, technical tools and a peer network of local government technical staff to cities and counties committed to implementing local clean energy actions.

The distinct value of Applied Solutions, that complements work of existing organizations, is our focus on developing clear, actionable steps that local governments can take to implement specific clean energy projects and actions customized to their local and regional priorities.
