Turning Trash into Cash with Landfill Gas to Energy Projects webinar archive
The City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department partnered with Bernalillo County in 2010 to build a landfill gas-to-energy project. Instead of burning off methane at their Cerro Colorado Landfill, the landfill gas is piped to the local detention center for use in hot-water boilers, where they save on energy costs used to heat water at the facility. The project was funded by the Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department and Bernalillo County, along with a $500,000 grant from the EPA.
